Conference feedback

I am extremely satisfied with the webinar and the answers to my questions.
Thanks a million.

Hi, thanks for putting this on. I just have one comment- in the "day in the life of a translator" segment, the visual was unclear- like unreadable unclear. I kept changing size of the display expecting it to clear up but it never did. Not sure what the situation was there but it wasn't worth watching what Massimilian was doing if I couldn't see it. Perhaps it had to do with so many people streaming it at once or a crummy connection on my end, not sure. Again, thanks for putting it on.

I particularly appreciated the last talk about basics of CAT tools for "newcomers".

Time From To Content
16:36 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All However I have not yet found out, how to use memoQ to translate and export to SDL. SDL>memoQ>SDL works just fine
16:37 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All I have 5 CATs on my PC that were not cheap, however I only use memoQ
16:38 May 28, 2014 Noura Tawil: 1729315 All 5? that's a big waste of money, IMHO!
16:39 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All yes, you are right and this is the reason why only memoQ gets upgrades - the others are left as they were installed a while ago
16:42 May 28, 2014 István Lengyel: 142959 All Thanks, Wulf-Dieter, now I understand :) You cannot really use memoQ and export to SDL without importing in SDL in the first place. You can export to mqxlz (export bilingual / memoQ xliff) but it
16:42 May 28, 2014 István Lengyel: 142959 All ...cannot be exported in SDL's tools.
16:43 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All Thanks for the hint Istvan, will remeber it when I should need it the next time
16:45 May 28, 2014 István Lengyel: 142959 All no problem
16:45 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All meaning set it up in SDL - then export as bilingual - import to memoq and when done back to SDL if customers do insist
16:46 May 28, 2014 Noura Tawil: 1729315 All I have a question. Is it possible to export a TM from memoQ to work within XTM (the online CAT tool)? XTM requests files in xtm format.
16:47 May 28, 2014 Noura Tawil: 1729315 All a colleague of mine uses XTM and sometimes we need to share TMs
16:50 May 28, 2014 István Lengyel: 142959 All Noura: yes, you can export TMs from memoQ and work in XTM. TMX works in XTM.
16:50 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All XTM will import TMX (translation memory exchange) which is a standard in the translation industry. Simply export your memoQ TM in TMX and then import to XTM
16:50 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All why would you use an online tool, in the forst place - tmx would be the migrating TM format - to have the online people profit from your kno-how, without even knowing who they are
16:50 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All Istvan...you beat me to the type
16:50 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All So this virtual event, and this chat room, are slated to close now
16:50 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All would the group in here like to keep it open longer?
16:51 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All Technically, no additional attendees will be able to enter the chat room, but I can keep the chat going for those already here ... if desired
16:52 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All well, it would be nice, if possible the real learning begins after a conference, normally
16:52 May 28, 2014 István Lengyel: 142959 All Wasn't the chat supposed to last until 7 GMT, 2 more hours?
16:53 May 28, 2014 Noura Tawil: 1729315 All as I said, my colleague/partner works in XTM, and he sometimes needs my TM when we're working on a mutual project.
16:54 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All I had it scheduled to 17:00 GMT
16:54 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All but can extend it
16:54 May 28, 2014 Wulf-Dieter Krüger: 564179 All Noura - talk him into using memoQ
16:55 May 28, 2014 Drew MacFadyen: 601248 All Istvan, that was an error in the listed time for this chat - the event technically ended
