Spanish term

por los tramos

Spanish to English Law/Patents Business/Commerce (general) Cooperation agreement

(tranches? sections?). Es para UK English.
Gracias por sus ideas!

Discussion

Richard Boulter Apr 9, 2010:
'Stran' / 'strand' I agree with Margaret's 'span/section' interpretation for this context. But I wanted to add a caution-or-query on Imatahan's interesting 'stran'. I suspect that the word is a typo that was meant to be 'strand' by the contributors in each of her ref sources. 'Strand' can be a 'string' or 'thread' of things, a 'series'; or it can be a 'stretch of land (often if it extends alongside or out into a body of water)'.
But if there's a separate word 'stran', which I've been unable to find in my sources, I'd appreciate some input from colleagues to clarify it, so that I can use it, myself, where it's appropriate. Regards to All!
Mariana Solanet (asker) Apr 8, 2010:
More context One company will pay the other bonuses for the square metres installed (metal standing seem roofs) during a one-year period. This sentence specifies how the bonus is applied per square metres, but not "por los tramos". Está más claro?
David Hollywood Apr 8, 2010:
more context needed :)

Regardless of what this is about, I think at least one of the above will work.It depends a great deal on what this is all about! Square metres of what? This is vital. More context would help greatly.

After reading more about the context, I think this could also be:

"SPAN"

agree Richard Boulter : I agree best with 'span', here. Perhaps even 'job', both assuming that the various spans will be roofed at different times during the project and the total square-footage bonus will only be paid upon completion of all such work that's needed.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, Margaret, I went with section this time, it fit perfectly with the text. Richard, if I had read your comment I probably would have changed it to span since your explanation was right on the button. Thanks "
