So I pretty much understand what this means, but the problem is that I can't find any sources that specifically use any permutations of close or liberal translations of this phrase. The doc already has a translation "Guarantee of Non-use of Environment Banned Substances," which strikes me as a bit questionable since I wouldn't extend 管理 to mean "banned," especially since later in the document there is mention of such substances not exceeding specified amounts. (XXX中规定的环境管理物质全部保证不超标)
I'm leaning towards "Regulated Environmental Substances." The phrase "controlled substance" wouldn't work since that refers to drugs, and this document deals with materials suppliers.
Any reasonably certain translations?

| Thanks for your response. Yes, that translation is what came to mind, and it certainly sounds right. It's just that when I Googled "Regulated Environmental Substances" I literally got just one hit and it wasn't especially well-known. I've only done a handful of environment/ecology translations and usually this sort of thing has a standard phrase used by authoritative government/NGO bodies etc. Thanks again, I might just go with this one. |
