Spanish term

zapata

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering CCTV system
Hi, I would appreciate your help.

This term appears as "zapata para báculos". A "báculo" being a pole where the camera is mounted on.

Am I right to say that a zapata is the base of the pole, which could be made of concret or whatever material?

Thanks :)

zapata (footing) - cimentación o ensanchameneto de la base de un soporte, que tiene como cometido repartir las cargas sobre el terreno.

http://wapedia.mobi/en/concrete
Concrete solidifies and hardens after mixing with water and placement due to a chemical process known as hydration. The water reacts with the cement, which bonds the other components together, eventually creating a stone-like material. Concrete is used to make pavements, pipe, architectural structures, foundations, motorways/roads, bridges/overpasses, parking structures, brick/block walls and **** footings for gates, fences and poles.***

base

In this context, the pole is a rather slender element that will be fixed to the base , probably by bolts. here's a link with a picture:

Hi eski, thanks for the input :) BTW a forgot to take the book with me on holiday - BAD BOY. I'm a bit absent minded, especially when packing up on holiday. As soon as I get some time I'll read it and give you some input. Since I have got back from swiming in the sea I have been swimming in documents. Not exactly the same I have to say
