Russian term

Сроки этапов исследования

Russian to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Amendment to Clinical Trial Protocol
Would this be timelines for steps/stages/phases of the study—or something like that?

Context:The various changes to the Protocol, as reflected in the Amendment, are enumerated. This particular item reads " - уточнены сроки этапов исследования"

Discussion

Judith Hehir (asker) Jun 29, 2012:
Thanks, Ann. That was my first thought ("steps"). See above.
Ann Nosova Jun 29, 2012:
Кстати, лично я часто перевожу "steps" как этапы (мне не всегда нравится "шаги", но это зависит от текста).
Judith Hehir (asker) Jun 29, 2012:
Thank you, Ann. This is what I suspected, as you can see from my note of thanks to TechLawDC.
Ann Nosova Jun 29, 2012:
I do not think that here should be Phases (although we can find the term in expression Treatment phase, Follow-up phase but it is not common). Stages are more appropriate and aslo can be periods of study (please see http://www.coastalclinicalresearch.com/ResearchLanguage.html
Wash-Out period: http://www.chemocentryx.com/product/protect-1.htmlThe PROTECT-1 clinical trial included four separate study periods:

1.A 12-week induction period during ....
Jurate Kazlauskaite Jun 24, 2012:
Milestones Sometimes (especially in budget) they use this term.

periods of the stages of the study

(One would be tempted to say "phases" of the study, but this would be seriously ambiguous, because we have Phase I, II, and III studies in regulatory practice, which is something entirely different.)
Note from asker:
That was my thought precisely. Thank you, TechLawDC.
Peer comment(s):

neutral rns : "stage" (apart from pre-clinical stages, that's not the case here) can also mean "phase" as in "Phase I, II, III" — http://goo.gl/AqcEt http://goo.gl/ksZlB — so ambiguity is still here.

Note from asker:
Thank you, Amy. I'm not sure whether it's phases (as in Phase I, II, and III) or required steps for the participants.
