German term
von suizidalität distanziert
German to English
Medical
Medical: Cardiology
Psychiatry
This is taken from part of a medical report about a cardiovascular patient who has suffered several setbacks in life (can't work due to serious car accident, heart problems, etc.). How would this be phrased in English - simply "not suicidal" for example?

: the term suicidal ideation is very often used in suicide risk screening. You may want to say - Patient credibly denies suicidal ideation. The physician's impression is that the statement made by the patient is credible.

Thanks! One of my daughters is a Clinical Psychologist and she specializes in suicide prevention, so (sadly) that phrase often comes up in convos about her job

stated credibly that he/she was not suicidal
It actually says (see the discussion box) "Von Suizidalität glaubhaft distanziert".

shows credible distancing from his/her suicidal intent or suicidality
The patient shows credible distancing from his/her suicidal intent or suicidality.

The patient experiences emotional despair and markedly reduced drive. The patient reports sporadic experience of suicidal thoughts from which she is, however, able to credibly distance herself during examination.

German term (edited):
glaubhaft von Suizidalität distanziert
believed to be out of suicide risk
> looked at subjectively from the clinician's angle, rather than objectively extrapolated from anything said by the patient, though the basis of assessment is not wholly clear to me.
Example sentence:
In the acute-care setting, assessment of acute suicide risk is a *subjective clinical judgement* based on a review of the known risk factors (both aggravating and protective), current intent and planning, prior history of suicidal thought or behaviour..
