German term

Eigengeschäfte

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
"Abwicklung von Eigen- und Agenturgeschäften in der Textilbranche"

This is a bullet point in the list of responsibilities on the CV of someone who was working as a sales assistant for a "Textil-Handelsagentur".

I'm not sure how to word it concisely in (preferrably British) English.

TIA

Discussion

pj-ffm Nov 15, 2011:
I think he is making the distinction between executing deals on behalf of the company and those made on behalf of a third party as a broker, i.e. for "Eigengeschäften" the stock is purchased for his company (trading on his own account), for "Agenturgeschäften" he is acting as a broker for a third party (and presumably he gets brokerage comission for the deal).

agree philgoddard : Business in the singular. It means "transactions", not "companies".

proprietary business/trading

I am not sure whether the same terminology applies to textile traders, but in the banking world trades performed for the bank's own account are called proprietary trades.
