French term

dynamique engagée

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Training course in beauty industry
This phrase appears in a course evaluation sheet. The whole sentance reads "Souhaitez vous poursuivre dans la dynamique engagée avec cette formation?" Any suggested translations for "dynamique engagée" would be very welcome. Many thanks

Discussion

MatthewLaSon Jun 23, 2010:
Agree with Clanola The idea is simply "Do you want to advance in your training?"

I think anything else is an overtranslation

dynamique = parcours = process/path
Claire Nolan Jun 21, 2010:
''Dynamique'' can be translated as ''process'' and I think it fits nicely in the asker's sentence (referring to the training process). ''Engagée'' does not need to be translated, in my opinion, as we know that the process has been begun.

See:

dynamique /dinamik/ feminine noun dynamics;process.:

This is actually quite challenging. I don't know the exact phrasing that would be optimal, but 'continue the momentum" would be good.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you to everyone. In fact this is a difficult one to grade as in the end I drew on everyone's suggestions and decided on the following translation: Would you like to maintain the momentum and pursue this training process? Many thanks to all. "

[continue down] the path you have started

Complete phrase would be: Would you like to continue down the path you have started with this training?

pursue the training process

''dynamique'' = process
''engagée'' = in this sentence, they are referring to the training that has begun with this encounter.

Would you like to pursue the training process (with us)? might be what is meant.

Would you like to advance in your training?

Hello,

I think this may do the trick. They're just asking if you want to continue on in the training you've started.

I really don't think that "engagée" needs to be translated literally as it'd be implied that it's an initial training course.

dynamique engagée = parcours engagée = training path started

I hope this helps.

momentum begun/started

For the term as given, "dynamique engagée", it needs the adjective. "Momentum" does seem the most appropriate equivalent to "dynamique" when used as a noun in this and similar contexts.

Most dictionaries are relatively unhelpful: Google Translate suggests "continue the momentum" for "poursuivre la dynamique". Googling the full phrase "poursuivre (dans) la dynamique engagée", produces a range of examples with different verbs including "poursuivre/soutenir/amplifier la dynamique engagée". In each instance the translations "contintue/sustain/increase the momentum begun/started seems totally appropriate.
