overcome owing to the fact that...
English to Spanish
Social Sciences
Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Context:
"a first difficulty is *overcome owing to the fact that* many scientists refuse today to shelter in the temple of Western thought knowledge as if it were the expression of a Single Truth. On the contrary, they choose multidisciplinary approaches."

I'm having some trouble understanding this phrase... the "overcome" is working as past participle? "a first difficulty is overcome - owing to the fact..." or "a first difficulty is - overcome owing to the fact..." ??
Thanks for your help :)

Lógicamente, podrías utilizar "dificultad/problema"...etc.,..pero esa es la idea básica.

superar debido a que
In this context 'Owing to the fact' =because. Overcome is a verb. It seems to be that the English text should read' to overcome (antecedent ?) due to the fact (because)....
Hope it helps.

: cuando existe un obstáculo se supera no se resuelve, resolver es muy distinto a superar ya que conlleva miedos y otros sentimientos que dificultan enfrentar el problema
