Would it be okay to say:
Los sintomas de esta enfermedad pueden ocurrir en cualquier etapa de la vida, pero normalmente aparecen o se desarrollan "entre los veinte y treinta anos" O a mediado de los anos veinte (latter sounds like we are talking about the mid (roaring) twenties.

En este caso podría ser: "en la mitad de la tercera década de la vida"
a mitad de la época - etapa veinteañera
Como yo ya soy un veinteañero doble con una década adicional... creo que "la etapa veiteañera" que en realidad empieza a los 20..., tiene un periodo medio que puede ir desde los 22 a los 28 más o menos... :-)
