German term

Speicherprüfstände

German to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Energy
"Moderne E-Motoren-, Antriebs- und Rollenprüfstände stehen für die Untersuchungen zur Verfügung. Weitere Bordnetz-, Temperatur- und Speicherprüfstände dienen der Charakterisierung der Fahrzeugsysteme."

I've translated Rollenprüfstände as "chassis dynamometer," but I don't see enough convincing evidence for Speicherprüfstände as "storage dynamometer." Does anyone know for sure? This is in the context of renewable energy.

Electric cars Found the term Speicherprüfstand at http://www.lionsmart.de/ , I'm guessing it is a test rig for the big storage battery banks of electric cars.
Steffen Walter Oct 24, 2012:
Speicher... ... seems to refer to electricity storage here (more specifically, referring to the storage of unused/excess electricity provided by electric vehicles, and related performance tests). Not sure about the English term, though.

accumulator test rig

Hi Barbara,
First of all, the "Speicher" in this case (if it is an electric vehicle) is not a battery but an accumulator (although I've also seen it referred to as a "storage battery"). The majority of car manufacturers in Germany call a Prüfstand a "test rig", but also occasionally refer to it as a test bench. Dynamometer would be incorrect here, because that's only used for the chassis

test rig (block, stand)

In the automotive industry for every single subassembly there is a test rig, depending on which company it could be test stand or test block.
"Spicher" could be reffering to the batterie for storage of electrical energy hence "Spicher". So may "storage test rig" or "battery test rig".
