Alfredo Tutino Oct 31, 2007:
Socrates, BTW, was not the only Ancient Greek Philosopher (in capitals) to have troubles with disrepectful womenfolk: see http://faculty.washington.edu/smcohen/320/ReeveIonians.htm ...
I wonder why...
Alfredo Tutino Oct 31, 2007:
I can't suggest an English equivalent, but did you know its (purported)origin? http://it.wikiquote.org/wiki/Modi_di_dire_nazionali - see note 3
Raffaella Panigada Oct 31, 2007:
Hi Angela, not sure about an equivalent English saying, but the meaning is that something that has been in the making for quite a long time (and was long overdue) has finally come true/happened. Hope this helps.
