That was in a phone conversation and the setting was not clear when I took over:
Caller: I understand I can only make that payment in my town. This is the due date and I am out of town.
Representative: You have a grace period of 8 days.
Caller: It does not matter. I want to pay today. Then, I'll go back to my town and make the payment.
Representative: OK. But you must remember that you have a grace period of 8 days.

I believe it is "prazo para pagar", although both Collins and Larouse show it as "período de carência". Período de carência in Brazil is used for Health Insurance and is the waiting period before you can have coverage. I would like my nice colleagues to confirm to me that it is "prazo para pagar" so I can sleep well! Can "grace period" mean both "prazo para pagar" and "período de carência?"
