German term
Hinweis versus Anhaltspunkt
German to English
Science
Medical: Pharmaceuticals

11 mins
evidence versus indication
I would suggest 'evidence' for Hinweis and 'indication' for Anhaltspunkt.
22 mins
indication vs (advisory) note
When the Hinweis is stronger than the advisory note
52 mins
indication versus clues
In the same order as the German. That's how I would make the distinction under normal circumstances. But yuu're offering few "clues" as to their use in context

In fact, we have received neither sufficient indication (Hinweise) nor any clues (Anhaltspunkte) as to their uses in context. Hinweise are specific pointers or instructions; Anhaltspunkte could be anything that sheds some light, when you're poking around in the dark..

reference vs. pointer
Anhaltspunkt more or less means "from where to proceed", viz. a pointer

I'm not sure that this is what you are looking for.
The prepositions in the English are essential to the meaning.
Benefit qualification is not a simple task: http://www.imi-protect.eu/documents/ShahruletalReviewofmetho...

Perhaps 'evidence of', depending on context.
