v.s.
to pass the buck=scaricare la propria responsabilita'.

to pass the buck= in italiano si riferisce molto bene all'espressione "fare scaricabarile" ovvero passare la responsabilità. From English this expression has its origins from the US. In a poker game the dealer would have a "buckthorn knife" this would be passed to the next dealer passing on the responsability and accountability. Thus passing the "buck" means to pass on the responsability/blame.
To pan out= it means in english to work out, to turn out, to result, to culminate, to come to an end (Ref. the Chambers Theasaurus, www.chambers.co.uk.)but there is no source because it's not an expression but it's a verb.
To come out of the closet= uscire allo scoperto direi in italiano.
The explanation of this expression it's similar to the others, but specifically the word "closet" comes from the French language and stands for something secret, private, unrevelaed, undercover. Thus to come out of the closet means that you'll be reaveling a secret or something private. In modern day this phrase is mostly used by gay people when pubblicly they announce that they're gay. (Ref for closet: The chambers theasarus, www.chambers.co.uk.)
