David Hardisty is a translator (from Portuguese to English) and a teacher of translation technology and English at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon. He has been involved in the use of technology in education and translation for many years. He is particularly interested in encouraging the use of Speech Technology where Portuguese is the target language. He has used Portuguese through the dictation facilities in the MacOS using PC CAT Tools such as MemoQ and Trados running under Parallels software to leverage the facilities offered by both Windows and OS,X Yosemite on mid-range and more top-range hardware.
