| | | Bio: I hold the degree of M. Phil Linguistics obtained from National University of Modern Languages, Pakistan. Also, I am an experienced teacher of linguistics and English literature, having more than 4 years experience of working as lecturer in English at an emerging univer...sity in Pakistan. Kindly have a look at my LinkedIn profile to see further detail http://pk.linkedin.com/pub/salman-riaz/24/a22/738. Because of my strong educational, administrative, research background, and linguistic talent, I have been contacted by some translation recruiters, from whom I recently have worked as English to Urdu translator for Languagescape (www.languagescape.com), Lingoleaf Language Services (www.lingoleaf.com), and ISO Translations Company (www.isotranslations.com).
I have a natural knack for translation, and I love this work, because it is sort of part of me. What distinguishes me from most of the others is my educational and research background in the field of Translation Studies (which is an established branch of Applied Linguistics). One of my research papers, dealing with the translation of idioms from Urdu to English, was accepted for presentation at an international conference held in La Roija, Spain from 8th to 11th September, 2011. Unfortunately, because of some official engagements, I could not present my paper at the conference. I believe in dedication, honesty, truth, hard work, passion, and creativity. Perfection is my obsession, and I try my best to do my work in a perfect way. More Less Message: Hi, I look forward to join the vibrant community of linguists at this event, and I hope that this mega event will lead to developing business contacts, that will prove to be of mutual benefit in the long run. |
| | Laura Maruccia (X) Professional italian translator Switzerland Native in Italian , German Freelancer | 23 years of experience |
| | Manjula Dias-Hargarter, Ph.D. (X) Art History, Architecture, Travel Germany Native in English Freelancer | Bio: I am a former researcher, writer, and educator with over a decade of experience in translation and copyediting in German and English.
My educational background spans two continents, with undergraduate and graduate degrees earned from Bryn Mawr College, the Universit...y of Texas at Austin, and Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universitaet. My employment record is equally international in nature, having worked in museums and schools in both the United States and Europe.
As a native English speaker residing in Germany, I am continuously engaged, however subconsciously, in the process of translation. I speak, read, and write both languages fluently, but just as importantly, my grasp of English and German encompasses the distinctive cultures of which they are a part. This sensitivity to both syntax and context is reflected throughout the documents I translate and edit.
Over the course of my studies and work, I have continuously honed my skills as a translator and editor. As a freelancer since 1997, I focus primarily on the topics of art history and architecture. I am an articulate writer, precise in my translations, and extremely reliable, with reasonable rates and guaranteed client satisfaction.

| | | Bio: Industrial and Systems Engineer
I started to translate because: As manufacturing engineer needed to provide my people with information reliable and accurate; plus, this way I was able to develop all documentation for the manufacturing processes (Standard Operating Proc...edures, Process Control Manuals, MSDS, etc.)
I love to read; and while doing it found that to many translations were not very good and sometimes found myself re-editing the information (already in Spanish) to be able to provide understandable procedures.
Later I find that I could work as a freelance translator (having the time to do so) and make some additional money while doing it.More Less Message: Hope these virtual conferences help us all to reach our different goals and desires (life, financial, etc.)

Thank you. Message: Dear Attendees,
Good day. I haven't been a full member of the ProZ, yet they are updating me all the time with all the vacancies, opportunities and events. Perhaps, I am not able, for the time being to purchase the full membership of this ...respcted corporation, but I hope that I will be able to very soon.
I wish you all the best chances to get the best opportunities and have great or rather enrmous earnings out of your great work.
I believe that translaton is the most effectieve means of connecting peoples and cultures; via which japanese can coomunicate to Arabs and the same applies to all countries and languages. I chose Japanese and Arabs as I am an Arab and Japanes language, and all far-eastern Asian languages, are very difficult for us to catch and understand. Through translation, Holy Books spread around the globe, through translation Business flourished through the world, trhough tranlation people could tour around the world and understand the cultures of other communities.
translation is a HUMANE work in the first place. A translator is a very important yet dangerous person, as he/she is the mediator between all the uncommunicating people. By translator, people may communicate and understand each other, or have struggles and disputes. So, a translator should have the honesty to connect peoples and languages in a safe and sound way.
Dear colleagues, our job is not an easy one, yet it is very intersting.
Wish you all the best.
Yours,
Moustafa ElnagarMore Less |
