Description
Consumer health products, green living and lifestyle brands form an interesting niche for translators with a background in health, but these are uncharted waters when it comes to terminology and regulatory issues. How do you keep up with a growing cornucopia of jargon and slang? How do you unpack terms, such as ‘conscious uncoupling’ or ‘alkaline cleanses’? Can you merge science and marketing without green washing? What are the best strategies for translating this food for thought?

At the end of this session, participants will be able:

- To identify the spectrum of documents and opportunities in the health and wellness translation market.
- To understand the primary jargon, terminology and lexical challenges in translating an intersection of medical, wellness and marketing materials.
- To learn to transfer source meaning to effective and engaging target context.
- To understand the conventions, tips and "dos" and "don'ts" for translating wellness materials that add value and authenticity to the content.
Target audience
Translators already specialising in marketing and general translation.
Translators considering crossing over from technical medical into health and well-being.
Medical translators interested in expanding the breadth of their practice.
