Dear ProZians, Attending a Powwow is always a wonderful experience. Proposing a Powwow is sort of opening a new door. Organizing a Powwow does not take much time, and when the event is running you feel "this was really worth doing". No matter if it is small or big. I completely agree with Fabio. I had the opportunity of organising one powwow in Santa Fe, Argentina, and it was fantastic. It is a great experience and, of course, I will attend to the one that will be held in Santa Fe. Have a nice day! Fernando | | | RominaZ Argentina English to Spanish + ... Yes, I have proposed one | Aug 8, 2007 |
I attended one powwow held in Santa Fe. It was an amazing experience since we can talk about our life as translators in an informal way. There I met others who were in the same situation than mine. Since our profession sometimes turns us into a king of hermit beings, powwows are a chance to socialize and meet people. When Romina offered me the opportunity to organize the next powwow, I really wanted to face the challenge! | | | Henry Hinds United States Local time: 05:33 English to Spanish + ... In memoriam
They're all being held at least 5,000 miles from here. And yes, I have attended a few powwows, all at least 5,000 miles from here. The good thing is that we have our local association, and whether Proz or not, we do get together on a regular basis. | | | Yes & I want to propose one | Aug 8, 2007 |
I am going to move to a big house by the end of August-beginning of September. Once I have my new house in order and tidy, and finish buying the furniture I need, I would love to propose the meeting there. Let's see if I have time to do so! | | | Fabio Descalzi Uruguay Local time: 08:33 Member (2004) German to Spanish + ... Propose it all the same! | Aug 8, 2007 |

Hi Cristina, You may proceed to propose the Powwow in your city all the same. The details (i.e. "where") may be agreed upon later. I swear, it's very easy to organize it!

Yes, I've heard about, but I'm not going to do anything about it. That would be my choice. Not to rain on your parade or anything... (c) | | | Patricia Rosas United States Local time: 04:33 Spanish to English + ... In memoriam one in Denver and one in Dallas | Aug 9, 2007 |

There are proposals for powwows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Dallas for those of us in the western USA. | |

I have proposed one in Costa Rica | Aug 9, 2007 |
As soon as I realized about this idea, I proposed one in San Jose, Costa Rica. I'm really busy, but I'll do my best so that translators can meet on Sept. 29th. I'll appreciate your help to have an amazing experience. Thanks:):) | | | Henry Hinds United States Local time: 05:33 English to Spanish + ... In memoriam
You're right, Patricia, those are closer. But I've opted instead to attend my 50th high school reunion in LA. After all, that's 50 years. Can't bring 'em back. Maybe we can do one here on the border sometime. You won't find me in Siberia. Nice thing is, every time I go to Santiago they have one. Every time I go, I just let them know and they do it. Now that's real hospitality! | | | Pablo Arig Uruguay Local time: 08:33 English to Spanish + ... Powwows - (VGI) - Very Good Idea | Sep 30, 2007 |
I really think it's a very good idea. I wish it took more than a day. Congratulations to the one or ones who make this important international event come true. Yesterday, I went, for the first time, to a powwow which took place in Uruguay. We shared a good time and everything went ok thanks to our Event Organizer, Fabio Descalzi. In my opinion, the place chosen for the event was the right one. I was happy to know personally, part of the memebers of this community... See more I really think it's a very good idea.
