G'day everyone

When reporting spam that came via ProZ.com (clicking a link in the mail), ProZ.com currently requires that you log in before you can report it. I think non-users should be able to report spam as well. The same goes for users who are registered but not currently logged in (and for some reason do not want to log in on the computer they use to report the spam).

Your throughts?

This is veering off-topic, but in terms of the new terminology used by ProZ.com, a user is someone who is an unpaid member. A visitor is an unregistered user. A user is a registered visitor. A member is someone who paid. A member is a user in one sense but not a user in another sense. The same goes for visitors... members are not visitors, unless you're talking in the sense that they are visitors. And somehow, in the ProZ.com Universe, this is thought to be less confusing than calling everyone silver members, gold members and platinum members.

So, to rephrase, for the pedants: I think visitors should be able to report spam as well (if they've clicked a link in a mail). The same goes for users and members who are not currently logged in (if they've clicked a link in a mail).

Using the spam report feature Sep 16, 2008

The spam report feature is relatively new, and its use is being evaluated. Clicking on the link to report the email as spam notifies staff of the issue via support request. The functionality of the feature may be extended in the future.

Best regards,

Jared

I've used it a few times - it's simple and hassle-free and I'm definitely in favour, as unfortunately Proz is ever more commonly being used as a spam-sending vehicle - I assume due to the site's increasingly high profile. Being able to report spam with a single click is a definite plus.

In my case, I use ProZ.com in Opera, but I read my mail in Firefox, because of compatibility. I don't want to be logged into ProZ.com using Firefox because of privacy issues.

But let's suppose I had used a cybercafe to read my mail... then I would not have wanted to log into any site unless entirely necessary.
