UK resident for the past 16 years, I maintain strong links with Greece.
I hold a PhD in Linguistics (University of Reading, UK), a MA in Contemporary English Language and Linguistics (Reading, UK), and a BA in English (University of Athens, Greece).
I have pursued my keen interest in translation throughout my academic teaching (linguistics: lexical semantics, deixis, cross-cultural communication within a pragmatic or sociolinguistic context). I also have years of experience of teaching Greek to English speakers, and am raising a bilingual child!
I have worked as a translator on a voluntary (Greek Section of Amnesy International) as well as paid basis. My last project involved content provision and editing of a Greek travel agency's website in English.
I am organized, punctual and meticulous. I am accutely aware of culture-specific nuances of meaning, and cultural and linguistic differences across the language pairs in which I work. |
