Source text - English ... Etymologists still disagree on whether baroque comes from the Italian baroco, an adjective applied to a far-fetched mode of argumentation by syllogism, as Rousseau believed, or from the Spanish barrueco, used to describe and oddly-shaped pearl, as Pluche believed.
Odd Pearl or strained syllogism, baroque music was to both Pluche and Rousseau bizarre, extravagant, and unnatural. To be sure, both were bent on disparaging the style, living as they did in a time that rejected the baroque. But the deprecating tone aside, were Pluche and Rousseau speaking of the same music that today we call baroque? Might not the foregoing passage from and aria of J.S. Bach be described as confused in its harmony, charged with dissonance and modulation, unnatural in its melody, which is difficult to intone, and constricted in its rhythm by the persistent repetition of a formula? It is possible to admit this without judging the aria faulty, because we recognize that the unusual means here are justified by the text, which the composer sought to express forcefully. Translation - Spanish Los etimólogos aún discuten sobre si la palabra "Barroco" proviene del término italiano "Baroco", un adjetivo aplicado a un descabellado tipo de argumentación por silogismos, como creía Rousseau, o de la palabra española "Barrueco", usada para describir una perla irregular, como creía Pluche.
Sea una perla extraña o un silogismo forzado, la música del barroco era tanto para Pluche como para Rousseau extraña, extravagante y antinatural. Con seguridad los dos se inclinaban a despreciar el estilo, al vivir en un tiempo que rechazaba el Barroco. Pero aparte del tono peyorativo, ¿no hablaban Pluche y Rousseau de la misma música que hoy conocemos como Barroca? ¿No podría el siguiente pasaje de un aria de J.S. Bach ser descrito como confuso en su armonía, cargado con disonancia y modulación antinatural en su melodía, la cual es difícil de entonar y monótona en su ritmo por la repetición de una fórmula? Es posible admitir todo esto sin llegar a juzgar el aria como un adefesio, pues reconocemos que estos medios inusuales están justificados aquí por el texto, que el compositor buscó expresar con toda fuerza.

Source text - Spanish Camaleonte, el cuarto trabajo del trío Palos y Cuerdas, puede considerarse, un manifiesto surgido de esa importante tradición. Cada nota y cada acorde de este disco proclama a gritos la supervivencia de la Música Andina Colombiana y nos la muestra como un ser vivo en pleno desarrollo, con toda su fuerza, vitalidad y vigencia. Con las dificultades técnico-musicales que supone, los Hermanos Saboya nos muestran en este trabajo un poco del pasado, presente y futuro del formato emblemático de nuestros ritmos andinos: el conformado por el tiple, la bandola y la guitarra. En ese sentido puede afirmarse que Camaleonte rinde un homenaje a sus predecesores, a la pléyade de músicos que han mostrado, pese a los cánticos lacónicos de los puristas que para nuestra fortuna, la música no está a salvo de las influencias del medio en que se desenvuelve ni puede entenderse por fuera del devenir histórico de su pueblo. Translation - English Camaleonte, the fourth work by "Palos y Cuerdas" trio, may be considered a manifest sproud out of that important tradition. Every note, and every chord from this record is shouting aloud the survivance of Andinean Colombian Music, and show it to us as a living being in full development, with all it's strenght, vitality and validity. With all the musical and technical difficulties involved, the Saboya brothers are showing through this work a few from the past, the present and the future of the emblematic ensemble of our andinean rhythms: The one made up of a tiple, a bandola and a guitar. Following this, it can be said that Camaleonte pays some homage to its ancestors, the pleiad of musicians that had shown, in spite of the laconic chants of the purists, that fortunelly to us, the music is not safe from the influences of the environment where it evolves, neither it can be understood outside the historic parth of its people.

Source text - French L'œuvre lyrique de Rameau forme la plus grande partie de sa contribution musicale et marque l'apogée du classicisme français, dont les canons s'opposèrent avec force à ceux de la musique italienne jusque tard au cours du XVIIIe siècle. Dans ce domaine, la création la plus célèbre du compositeur est sans conteste l'opéra-ballet Les Indes galantes (1735). Cette partie de sa production est curieusement restée oubliée pendant près de deux siècles, mais bénéficie aujourd'hui d'un mouvement de redécouverte. Ses œuvres pour clavecin, en revanche, ont toujours été présentes au répertoire : Le Tambourin, L'Entretien des Muses, Le Rappel des Oiseaux, La Poule, entre autres pièces connues, furent jouées au XIXe siècle (au piano) à l'égal de celles de Bach, Couperin ou Scarlatti.

En este medio, la creación más célebre de éste compositor es sin duda la ópera-ballet "Las Indias Galantes (1735)". Esta parte de su producción estuvo curiosamente olvidada durante casi dos siglos, pero afortunadamente se ha redescubierto un movimiento en nuestros días. Sus obras para clavecín, por el contrario, han estado presentes diempre en el repertorio: El tamboril, la conversación de las musas, el llamado de las aves, la Gallina, entre otras piezas conocidas, que fueron tocadas en el siglo XIX en el piano al igual que aquellas de Bach, Couperin o Scarlatti.
Rameau está generalmente considerado como el más grande músico francés antes del siglo XIX, así como el primer teórico de la armonía clásica: sus tratados de armonía, a pesar de algunas imperfecciones, son aún un punto de referencia.

Corpas (Colombia) and with a Master of Arts in Art History - Music degree at the Atlantic International Univerisity (on-line, USA).
