Translation - English Historians have been studying charters from the Middle Ages for centuries. They are a source of which all possibilities have now been fully explored. Serious research into ego-documents, and based on ego-documents, is much more recent. For this reason, it is worth exploring which new approaches are possible. Naturally, this means building on previous insights. One of these insights is the “pacte autobiographique”, a term introduced by Philippe Lejeune, made between the writers and readers of autobiographies. An implicit agreement also exists for autobiographical letters, diaries and such works; that the writer, the person who tells the story and the main character are one and the same.
