Source text - English Once upon a time there was a little chimney-sweep, and his name was Tom. That is a short name, and you have heard it before, so you will not have much trouble in remembering it. He lived in a great town in the North country, where there were plenty of chimneys to sweep, and plenty of money for Tom to earn and his master to spend. He could not read nor write, and did not care to do either; and he never washed himself, for there was no water up the court where he lived. He had never been taught to say his prayers. He never had heard of God, or of Christ, except in words which you never have heard, and which it would have been well if he had never heard. He cried half his time, and laughed the other half.
Translation - French Il était une fois un petit ramoneur qui s'appelait Tom. C'est un nom court et vous l'avez déjà entendu, vous n'aurez donc pas de mal à vous en souvenir. Il vivait dans une grande ville du pays du Nord, où il y avait beaucoup de cheminées à ramoner et beaucoup d'argent à gagner pour Tom et à dépenser pour son maître. Il ne savait ni lire ni écrire, et ne se souciait ni de l'un ni de l'autre ; il ne se lavait jamais, car il n'y avait pas d'eau dans la cour où il vivait. On ne lui avait jamais appris à faire ses prières. Il n'avait jamais entendu parler de Dieu ou du Christ, sauf dans des termes que vous n'avez jamais entendus et qu'il aurait été préférable qu'il n'ait jamais entendus. Il pleurait la moitié du temps et riait l'autre moitié.

I am highly motivated to pursue the Cert Trans and my goal is to study translation at the Master’s level in English here in Finland. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the Sorbonne and possess extensive knowledge in food and beverage, due to my professional experiences in high-level restaurants in France and my vocational qualifications in the culinary industry. I have also developed a similar background in tourism while living in Lapland. Additionally, I am bilingual in French and Finnish, having grown up in a bicultural family. Furthermore, I have started a Master's program in Finno-Ugric cultures and languages, which has provided me with experience in both professional and academic translation. Currently, I am using Phrase as my CAT tool while primarily translating humanitarian content.
