My name is Margreet van Rijswijk. I am a professional freelance translator/editor English and a native speaker of the Dutch language. From 2000-2004, I studied at ITV, the Institute for Interpreters and Translators, in Utrecht, where I graduated in 2004. I have been working part-time as a translator/editor since 2004 and full-time since 2009.

Skills

Translating, substantive editing and copy-editing, proofreading. Sworn/certified translator English-Dutch and Dutch -English (both American-English and British-English).
Main field of expertise is medical/pharmaceutical translations but I also have experience with legal, technical and general translations.

Background

From 2009-2011, assistant project manager at MediLingua, Medical Translation Agency on translation project of a Dutch medical dictionary. Substantive editing (Dutch-English) and QA was the main part of my work. Before that, I had been working as a nurse for 15 years in various hospitals and nursing homes, and in my final part-time job as a trained nurse I worked on a ward for rehabilitation following CVA.

Qualities

Accurate, creative, a tendency toward perfection, perform well under pressure and can therefore handle deadlines. I have a hunger for knowledge and am always on the look-out for ways to improve my translation and language skills.
