The symptoms generally consist of fever, headaches, weakness, muscle and joint pains, nausea, diarhea and vomitting. Some people may develop inflammation, red eyes, a cough, a sore throat or internal or external bleeding. The symptoms may arise within 2 to 21 days after the exposure to the biological liquids but generally start after 8 to 10 days.
How is the Ebola Virus Diagnosed?
The symptoms of the Ebola Virus are similar to other infections that are common to West Africa, such as malaria. The health care providers utilize laboratory tests to determine if a person is infected with the Ebola Virus or another disease.
How is Ebola cured?
The cure does not exist, at this point in time, there is no known treament or vaccine for Ebola. Only supportive care can help, such as rest, plenty of fluids and medicines to reduce the fever, these are what are administered to the people infected with the disease. There are new treatments that are being researched right now.
