I'm a lawyer since 2003, but since 1999, I've been working as an English/Portuguese teacher and as a translator of legal documents, especially agreements.
In 1999, I spent a couple of months living in the city of Alexandria, in the American state of Virginia, to improve my English.
In 2004, I went back to the USA, this time, as a participant of an Au Pair program. At the same time, I took a "International Business" course, at Oakton Community College, in the city of Des Plaines, state of Illinois. This course helped me to wide my business vocabulary in English.
In 2005, back to the city of Alexandria, Virginia, I again took a course to improve even more my English skills, as well as a preparatory course for the new iBT Toefl, which I took in November of the same year, scoring 106 points out of 120.
Back in Brazil, in November, 2005, I started to work as a translator in a law firm in São Paulo, translating legal documents, and I also worked as a private English teacher . In 2006, I took a specialization course in Legal English, at the Universidade Ibero-Americana, in São Paulo, which has a huge tradition in the translation area in the country.
On January, 2008, I moved to a translation company, to work as a proofreader.
Now, I'm currently working at another big law firm in São Paulo, as a translator/language consultant. I also provide services as a freelance translator for some translation companies throughout the country. |
