Da-ree in Korean means "Bridge" & "Legs". When kids ask Q's to their mothers, "Mom, where did I come from?" Mothers usually say, "I picked you up under the Da-ree" Kids go, "Wha..t? Which bridge?" Mothers just smile and don't give further response.
We all live in multicultural, multilingual global village where bridge-building function as important cultural infrastructure. Language is that bridge for us. So that is my role here: to be the bridge for Korean and American culture. |
