English to Spanish: Car Repair Manual General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Source text - English Rings should be positioned so that the gaps are uniformly spaced around the piston (except on pistons where rings are pinned). The piston-ring-and-rod assembly should be dipped in heavy oil or castor oil to provide initial lubrication. Castor oil is considered better by many mechanics, since it has greater film strength and will not wash out as easily as mineral oil. Install pistons in cylinders, using a ring compressor (see § 308). Use a bolt guide sleeve and replacement tool, if specified, to keep the bolts from scratching the crankshaft journals (see Fig. 19—4). Attach the rod cap with the nuts turned down lightly. Then tap the bearing cap on its crown lightly with a brass hammer to help center it. Use torque wrench to final-tighten nuts.
English to Spanish: Literary Studies General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Examining the first group of terms, we see that they empower an inquiry into literature as writing not elevated into a realm of pure art but, rather, remaining open to the same social entanglements and limitations that condition all writing. This position contests the formalist or New Critical emphasis on the appreciation of literature in purely aesthetic terms, as writing that lifts us out of history if out of ourselves, finally—into a timeless and universal realm of beauty and truth. The essays in this text on such terms as "writing," "figurative language," and "narration" raise questions that apply to literature but also to other forms of writing as well, and therefore suggest that literary writing does not enjoy a privileged status within the arena of discourse. Figurative language does not happen only in poetry, and narrative does not happen only in novels.
