Director of Translation Services, Language and Culture Worldwide
Whether managing translation of a single document into one language or a large manual into 30, Maria regularly receives rave reviews from our Fortune500 clients regarding her ability to manage customer relations and client expectations on projects from beginning to end.
Maria was born and raised in Spain and joined LCW in 2006 as Director of Translation services. Her role requires her to collaborate closely with clients to ensure LCW translation processes meet our client’s ever-evolving needs. Her primary responsibilities are large scale translations involving such elements as on-line resources, technical themes, global compliance, corporate communications, and/or product localization. Maria’s role also involves assuring smooth project flow with her clients regarding the use of in-country reviewers, translators, desktop publishers, and other project related specialists. She is an expert regarding complex quality assurance (QA) processes.
Prior to joining LCW, Maria worked for 5 years as a translation manager in the Chicago area. Her responsibilities included directing and managing translation projects from inception to deliverable stage, with a significant focus on healthcare. Maria also worked in Spain for almost two years with an Agricultural Newspaper (Europa Agraria) where she had telemarketing, trade show promotions and direct selling responsibilities. The experience gave her a platform to explore Spain with extensive travel around the country to generate new clientele.
Maria has a Masters Degree in Information Technology and Privacy Law from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. The program's primary focus is the law of global compliance of private information, computers and communications technology for domestic and international business, as well as at the governmental level. She earned her BA in Marketing and Public Relations from Instituto of Ciencias del Mercado (Zaragoza, Spain). She has attended international marketing classes taught in French while living in Europe, as a way to refine her French language skills, and has taken both English as a second language and marketing classes in the United States.
