English to Chinese: An excerpt from my published translation General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: History
Translation - Chinese Khazui, also known as Kazi (formerly translated as hade), is derived from Arabic and signifies "judge" or "administrator of religious rules." In the Tang and Song dynasties, the Khazui system emerged in China as a collection of local religious leaders or judges of religious rules. The central Yuan Dynasty government established the "Huihui Hade Office" to mediate civil disputes and other affairs. Compared to the religious systems of the Hui and other nationalities, the Salar Khazui is rather unique, with its functions and power not only influential within the religious sphere but also, by virtue of its combination with the tusi system, a player in the political arena as well. A Salar tusi usually held the Khazui post concurrently, thus being an important tool in the feudal dynasties' rule over the Salar. Although the Khazui system was abolished in the twenty-second year of the Guangxu reign (1896), during its existence it deeply influenced Salar society, ideology, and religious life. At certain levels it also accelerated the formation of Salar society and its menhuan system. This article attempts an inquiry into the khazui system's formation, manifestation, and its historical role in a desire to engender a preliminary exchange of views with concerned specialists and scholar.

00:14:16 --- 00: 15:20
We think at U. S. Steel, Kosice is extremely important for the number one employer in the area, one of the largest contributors to the economic development. To be a partner- and not only the bid-but project team, that hopefully at some point of time, will win the honor and title of cultural city, capital of Europe. The social responsibility we still enjoy, participating in its long standing history, its long standing partnership, not only the city, but the whole Kosice region with its rich history and a fact it's a melting pot for all of Europe, cross borders, make this a great candidate for winning the title. And U. S. Steel Kosice not only supports a bid, it supports the whole process and brings our international experience to the table when it comes to selling the city of Kosice in the international community.

English to Chinese: Myth 2: Performance Management will be easier with the new application. Detailed field: Management
Source text - English System improvements will help employees track and manage goals. The TMS will also give employees clear lines of sight and alignment. However, the TMS will not replace having conversations:
• Managers and employees still need to have regular two-way communication regarding progress on goals and objectives.
• Managers still need to provide employees with timely constructive feedback outside of the performance review process.
• Managers still need to coach and develop their teams.
• Employees still need to own their own overall performance management.
