I am a native of Germany who has lived in the United States for the last 15 years. German is my native language, but I consider myself bilingual (English-German, German-English).

In Germany I worked for 5 years as an executive secretary. (I have an education as a wholesaler [Gross- und Aussenhandelskaufmann] and hold a diploma as a staatlich gepruefte Sekretaerin). After moving to the US, I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's Degree in English.

I have worked as a freelance translator since 2001. In 2003 I translated the book "Ellen Olestjerne" by Frankziska Graefin zu Reventlow (254 pages).

I am very experienced in the proofreading and editing realm. I served for two years as a research assistant to Dr. Jeffrey Richards (Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia). In that capacity I proofread his 340-page long book "Mimic Life or, Before and Behind the Curtain" by Anna Cora Mowatt, Editor Jeffrey H. Richards, which was published in 2000 by Copley Publishing Group, Acton, MA, USA.
Furthermore, I have worked as a proofreader with several PhD candidates on their dissertations at Florida State University and the University of Virginia. The subject areas were as varied as Nicaraguan Theater, Freudian Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Economics.

I am also an experienced teacher for German, English, and English as a Second Language. Currently I am an adjunct professor at the University of the Virgin Islands teaching English composition and literature. Please refer to my CV for details.
