Source text - English The Quiet Ones
It’s there, in the tip of our tongue, the right word. The solution. The answer. The perfect comeback. Instead, silence. We know it, right? The truth. “The real truth”. How good we are. How we can figure it out so fast. It comes naturally and we can do it with our eyes closed. Still, we let them do it. Let them have it. Let them tell the world they are better, brighter or more ingenious than anyone else. They take the credit , they spin the tales loudly. They think they can get away with it. The lie, the deception, the exaggeration. And we just let them. Why? Cuz’ we know, and we’re all good. Let them rattle on and on. We don’t care. We even revel in it. The silence. The one many can’t handle. The quiet just gives too much space to their conscience. Us, we are used to it. So, we hold it in (we cool like that). We know the longer we hold on to it , the louder it becomes. They feel it. We stay on it with our reserved calmness. We look straight in their eyes and raise our glasses slightly, very subtle , a small nod, a side smile, a twinkle in our eye. They know, we know. The longer it is, the more unnerved they become and it becomes our shield. It’s so strong and so wide that most won’t even attempt to look , less to try. Then voilá….they are gone. Out of your lives.
Translation - Spanish Los Que Callan
Nosotros, estamos acostumbrados a ello.
