Portuguese to English: O meu melhor amigo/My best friend
Source text - Portuguese Há uma pessoa que eu prefiro neste mundo a todas as outras: o meu amigo Bernardo. O Bernardo é um rapaz de vinte e cinco anos, mede um metro e oitenta, e tanto a pele escura como o cabelo preto lhe dão um ar mesmo português. Os olhos castanhos, no entanto, escondem um tom verde-azeitona, que sobressai quando ele está ao sol.
Conhecemo-nos num ginásio de escalada, onde agora vamos juntos três ou quatro dias por semana. Quando ele começou, tinha uns quilos a mais. Entretanto, o exercício físico fez com que ganhasse muito músculo nos braços. Hoje em dia, parece outro!
Aquilo que mais aprecio nele é a profunda honestidade de caráter e a simpatia que tem com toda a gente. É também generoso, inteligente e corajoso quando é preciso. Se tivesse de lhe apontar um defeito, seria o otimismo desmedido dele, que por vezes o torna insuportável.
Translation - English There is one person I prefer above every other in this world: my friend Bernardo. Bernardo is a 25 year old guy, he's one meter and 80 tall, and both his dark skin and black hair give him a truly portuguese look. His brown eyes, however, hide a olive-green tone, that stands out when he's in the sun.
We met at a wall climbing gym, where we now go together three or four days a week. When we started, he was a bit overweight. However, the exercise made him build up a lot of muscle in his arms. Nowadays, he looks like a whole different person!
What I appreciate the most in him is his characteristic honesty and sympathy he has towards everyone. He's also generous, intelligent and brave when it's needed. If I had to pick out a flaw of his, it would be his excessive optimism, which sometimes makes him unbearable.

Bio
Hi! My name is João. I was born and raised in Portugal and have always been fascinated by the English language, so I ended up learning it quite young. I've been transcribing, translating and subtitling content since I was around 14, mostly as a hobby and to make the world a little bit more accessible for those who need those resources.
I am now 21 and I still find great joy in using my native language and hearing to help those who might need it. Anything to make other people be able to consume content they might've not been able to otherwise.
I mostly have experience in subtitling videos on YouTube in my free time, but I've also have had to do quite a few assignments for translating anything from instruction manuals, logistics plans, medical documents, songs, you name it, I've probably had to translate it at some point (especially when your parents don't know a lick of English and you really want to help them).
I would love to be able to work in this area, as working remotely would help me a great deal.
