Starting my career as a translator, with German/Greek to English being my language pairs, I am keen to find challenging freelance opportunities as a subtitler and translator. I finished my Masters degree in Translation with the Open University, which has given me great opportunities for practical work and a good foundation in the theory and practicalities of translation as a profession. I am also working as a special education teacher in a German elementary school. My current areas of expertise are education, psychology, sociology, environment and customer service, which were developed thanks to my university studies in these areas, my work as a teacher in Greece, Italy and Germany, as well as my experience in working as a hostess. I have experience translating personal documents, subtitling, captioning and translating in the following fields: medical, law and marketing. I recently became a member of the Translators without Borders and TED talk translators. My areas of interest are audiovisual (subtitling),tourism, technical, medical and legal translations. However, I would also consider translating for other fields. I have an eye for detail and excellent timing and planning skills. My appreciation and understanding of other cultures, which were developed because I have lived in various countries, will also help me understand and interpret cultural references. |
