Source text - French Les conquêtes culturelles sont à la fois les plus anciennes et les plus duráveis. À de très rares exceptions près, celle que le vin a amorcée depuis le vie millénaire au Proche-Orient se poursuit: ne voyons-nous pas s'ouvrir à la consommation de vin des pays comme la Chine ou l'Inde, suivant en cela o Japão?
Breuvage des peuples païens mais aussi du peuple hébreu dans l'Antiquité, boisson sacrée du christianisme, il a acompanha l'expansion de cette religion sur la planète entière (jusqu'au Nouveau Monde et en Océanie avec les premiers évangélisateurs), et n' a rencontré qu'un seul obstáculo, certes de taille, l'islam. Là où il a perdu son caractère religieux, il est reste une boisson de haute culture et de sociabilité. Aujourd'hui, on en boit et on en produit un peu partout, et comme les façons de cultiver et les méthodes de vinification font davantage les grands vins que la nature, l'Europe (et singulièrement la France) doit rester vigilante et imaginative.
Avec l'arrivée du vin dans les pays les plus inattendus, c'est à une autre mondialisation que nous assistons, non pas celle des délocalisations et des pertes d'emploi dans les pays riches, mais une mondialisation heureuse qui favorise la chaleur humaine et le dialogue entre les peuples.
Translation - Portuguese As conquistas culturais são, ao mesmo tempo, as mais antigas e as mais duradouras. Com raras exceções, a aventura iniciada pelo vinho há sete milênios no Oriente Próximo prossegue: acaso não vemos abrirem-se ao seu consumo países como a China ou a Índia, seguindo os passos do Japão? Utilizado pelos povos pagãos, mas também pelo povo hebreu na Antiguidade, bebida sagrada do cristianismo, o vinho acompanhou a expansão dessa religião por toda a terra (até o Novo Mundo e a Oceania, com os primeiros evangelizadores), encontrando nesse caminho um único, embora importante, obstáculo: o islã. Apesar de ter perdido parte de seu caráter religioso, a bebida tornou-se um símbolo de alta cultura e de sociabilidade. Hoje, é possível beber e produzir vinho em qualquer lugar; e, como as formas de cultivo e os métodos de vinificação fazem mais pelos grandes vinhos que a própria natureza, a Europa (e, em particular, a França) deve manter ativas sua vigilância e sua imaginação. Com a chegada do vinho aos países mais inesperados, assistimos a outro tipo de globalização: a que favorece o calor humano e o diálogo entre os povos.
