Source text - German Hermann Hesse: Die Orientreise - Der lange Weg zu sich selbst
Nachschrift des frei gehaltenen Vortrags
Wer heutigen Tags vom einer Orientreise spricht, erweckt nicht als erstes die Erinnerung an Hermann Hesse, wohl aber die Bilder der zerstörtem Zitadelle von Aleppo, des vernichteten Basars von Damaskus, des geplünderten Museums von Bagdad und des Blutbrunnens aus dem Iran-Irak_Krieg in der Rosenstadt Shiraz, der Heimat des Hafis, dessen Goethe gedachte im West-östlichen Diwan: Gottes ist der Orient,/Gottes ist der Okzident, /Nord und südliches Gelände/Liegt im Frieden sener Hände.
Vor fünundvierzig jahren noch war es möglich, die Welt grad so nich zu erleben, indem man sie bereiste. Sie betraten die Mischee des Sinan in Istanbul, die sogenannte "Balue Moschee" mit ihren hochragenden MInaretten, setzen Ihren Fuss auf die jeden Schall verschluckenden Teppiche und liessen sich einweihen in die Choräle des Lichts gebrochen in den Fenstern, eingeladen in die Gebetsnische, sich hinwendend nach Osten, nach Mekka.
SIe konnten in Indien eine Mondnacht verbringen in der Nähe des Taj Mahal und die Jamuna murmeln hören wie die nicht endenden Tränen der Trauer eines der grössten Herrscher der Welt, Schah Dschahan, gewidmet seiner Geliebten, Mumtaz Mahal, der Perle des Palastes.
Zweihundert Kilometer im Süden davon finden Sie das Baudenkmal des grossen Akbar: Fatehpur Sikri, einen Ort, der die Religionen miteinander versöhnen sollte, der aber aufgegeben werden musste fünfzehn Jahre später wegen Wassermangels. Am Ostausgang links finden Sie auf Arabisch einen Spruch, der in der muslimischen Tradition auf Jesus zurückgeführt wird: Die Welt ist eine Brücke, bleib nicht auf ihr stehen, gehe hinüber.
Bei einer solchen Pilgerreise ist Hermann Hesse zweifellos nicht der Reiseleiter oder der Tourismus-Berater, wohl aber ein Begleiter an der Seite des Wandernden, der niemals Ruhenden, der unterwegs sich Befindlichen, ein Bündnisgenosse unter anderen. Im Jahre 1932, ale die Morgenlandfahrt erschien, legte Hesse ein kleines Stückchen Theologie der Leserschaft vor und gab auf wenigen Seiten eine Übersict über sein Weltbild.
Alle Meschen, zu allen Zeiten, so kam es ihm vor, eifach weil sie Menschen sind, durchglüht also von Geist, erleben notwendigerweise den immer gleichen Werdeprozesses. Alles beginnt in einer kindlichen, paradies-ähnlichen Unschuld, einer Unmittelbarkeit im Begreifen von Schönheit, im Gefühl der Geborgenheit, der inneren Daseinsbejahung. Aber alles zerbricht und zerfällt in einer zweiten Stufe der Gesetze, der Moral, der Trennung von Gut und Böse, der Einsicht der eigenen Verantwortung und dann der Verzweiflung darüber, den Ansprüchen niemals stadhalten zu können.
Es muss eine dritte Stufe geben, die man bezeichnen könnte als die Sphäre der Gnade. Wer von der Verzweiflung steht, ist ein Kind, wer daraus erwacht, ein Erwachsener, heisst es in der Morgenlandfahrt.
Diese Dreiteilung hat eine grosse Ähnlichkeit mit einem Autor, der Heramn Hesse sehr beflügelt hätte, den er aber, ich vermute, der Schwierigkeit seinr Gedankenführung und seiner Diktion wegen nicht sehr intensiv gekannt hat, erstaunlicherweise: Kierkegaad, der dänische Religionsphilosoph, der um 1840 gegen Hegels Dreischritt von These, Antithese und Synthese, diesen Spekulationsraum der reinen Begriffe, die Entwicklung der menschlichen Existenz zu formulieren versucht hat: in fast ähnlicher, aber kennzeichnenderweise unterschiedlicher Form wie bei Hesse.
Es beginnt bei Kierkegaard mit dem ästhetischen Stadium. Ein Mensch lebt, ausgeliefert dem Äusseren, hingegeben den Sinnen, glückselig verschmolzen zwischen Innen und Aussen, der Freunde, dem Genuss, der Lustbarkeit. Es ist Kierkegaard,der gerade dieses Stadium als eine latente Verzweiflung bezeichnen wird. Das ästhetische Individuum ist ein verzweifeltes Individuum, das dessen nur noch geständig ist, lesen Sie bei Kierkegaard.

Pripísaný dodatok k voľne prednesenému prejavu
Kto dnes spomína cestu do Orientu, nevyvolá najprv spomienky na Hermanna Hesseho, ale pripomenie obrazy zničenej mešity v Aleppe, zničeného bazáru v Damašku, vyrabovaného múzea v Bagdade a krvavých jatiek z iránsko-irackej vojny v Širáze, meste ruží, kolíske básnika Háfiza, ktorého spomína Goethe v diele Západnovýchodný diván: Orient patrí Bohu, / Západ patrí Bohu, / severné a južné krajiny/ spočívajú v pokoji jeho rúk.
Ešte pred štyridsiatimi piatimi rokmi bolo možné zažiť pôvodný svet tak, že ste ho precestovali. Vstúpili ste do Sinanskej mešity v Istanbule, takzvanej modrej mešity s jej minaretmi, ktoré sa týčia vo výške, vkročili ste na koberce, ktoré absorbujú všetok zvuk a nechali ste sa zasvätiť do chorálov svetla lámaného v oknách, pozvať do modlitebne v stenovom výklenku, s pohľadom smerujúcim na východ, do Mekky.
Mohli ste stráviť v Indii mesačnú noc v blízkosti kráľovského paláca Tádž Mahal a započúvať sa do zurčania rieky Jamuny pripomínajúceho neustále ronenie sĺz smútku jedného z najväčších vládcov sveta, mogula Šáhdžahána, ktorý palác venoval svojej milovanej, Muntázmahal, perle paláca.
Dvesto kilometrov južnejšie nájdete pomník Akbara Veľkého: Fatéhpur Sikrí, miesto, ktoré malo zmieriť všetky náboženstvá, tento cieľ však po pätnástich rokoch kvôli nedostatku vody stroskotal. Pri východnej bráne pevnosti sa na ľavej strane nachádza arabské príslovie, ktoré sa v arabskej tradícii viaže k Ježišovi: Svet je most, nezostaň na ňom stáť, prejdi na druhú stranu.
Na takejto pútnickej ceste nie je Hermann Hesse určite vedúci zájazdu alebo turistický sprievodca, je skôr sprievodca pre putujúcich, ktorí nikdy neoddychujú, ktorí sú stále na ceste, je spojenec medzi ostatnými. V roku 1932, keď vyšla kniha Cesta do Orientu, predložil Hesse čitateľom kúsoček teológie a na niekoľko málo stranách poskytol prehľadne vlastný svetonázor.
Všetci ľudia v každej dobe, tak sa mu vidí, jednoducho preto, že sme ľudia, prežiarení duchom, zažívajú nevyhnutne stále rovnaký proces stávania sa človekom. Všetko začína s detskou nevinnosťou, podobnej stavu v raji, s bezprostrednosťou chápania krásy, s pocitom bezpečia, vnútorným pritakaním bytiu. Ale všetko sa rozbije a rozpadne na druhom stupni zákonitosti, morálky, rozlišovania medzi dobrom a zlom, vnímaní vlastnej zodpovednosti a následne v zúfalstve, že človek nikdy nemôže obstáť v očakávaniach.
Musí existovať tretí stupeň, ktorý by sa dal označiť ako sféra milosti. Kto sa zastaví pred zúfalstvom, je dieťa, kto sa z toho prebudí, dospieva, uvádza sa v Ceste do Orientu.
Toto trojité stupňovanie sa veľmi podobá na autora, ktorý by Hermanna Hesseho pozoruhodným spôsobom inšpiroval, ktorého však kvôli jeho spôsobu myslenia a dikcie zrejme veľmi intenzívne nepoznal: na Kierkegaarda, dánskeho náboženského filozofa, ktorý sa pokúsil v roku 1840 formulovať vývoj ľudskej existencie v kontraste s Hegelovým rozdelením na tézu, antitézu a syntézu, tomuto priestoru pre špekulácie s absolútnymi pojmami. Kierkegaard myslel veľmi podobne, ale používal zreteľne odlišnú formu než akú používal Hesse.
U Kierkegaarda to začína estetickým štádiom. Človek žije vydaný napospas vonkajšiemu svetu, oddaný zmyslom, v šťastnom splynutí medzi vnútorným a vonkajším svetom, radosťou, pôžitkom, túžbami. Kirkegaard označuje práve toto štádium za skryté zúfalstvo. Estetická individualita je zúfalá individualita, ktorá si to ale nepriznáva, čítate u Kierkegaarda.
