Bio
I was born in 1996, and was a graduate of Shepherd High School in Shepherd, Texas. Following High School I moved to Stephen F. Austin State University and obtained my bachelor's degree in Spanish and a minor in communications, which in this case refers to the science of communicating with some elements of sociology and psychology added in while primarily studying the media.
I've carried a love for language since childhood, and have always excelled in the language arts. Since 2011 I have dedicated my life to learning Spanish. For over a decade I have been working to not only improve my Spanish skills in the arts of speaking, reading, and writing, but also culturally to obtain a deep understanding of the elements that compose the various Hispanic cultures around the world.
Throughout my time in college I was required to constantly read books that dominated the Hispanic literary world, such as El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha by Miguel Cervantes, and write essays in Spanish providing an analysis of the works themselves. In addition to literature and history classes, I've also had an abundance of classes pertaining to translation and interpretation and techniques to help further these skills. An example of one of these techniques that was hit upon was that of "traducción a la vista" or "translation at sight", meaning I would look at a text in Spanish and immediately be able to say it out loud in English.
Following my bachelor's, I had taken all the program's classes at SFA's Hispanic Studies master's program, but due to monetary reasons never was able to complete the required exams towards the end. I do intend on going back to another program when possible and completing the required amounts in the future when the economic opportunity presents itself.
After achieving my education I worked for three years at Shepherd ISD as a Spanish teacher and helped to test many native speaking kids out of Spanish 1 and/or 2 into higher levels so they were able to complete our bi-literate certification program for when they graduate. This however was a bit limiting in job growth, so I became interested in looking into the other specialty I was trained in: translation/interpretation, which brings me here.
I also have a love for film and music, and even in my off-time have been a DIY filmmaker and have completed various courses on the university level towards a film degree, so I am very proficient at multiple video editing and script writing programs as well if need be.
