Born
and raised in the USA, I have been living and working in France since
2005. My
natural curiosity and sociability compelled me to travel across the
ocean in 2002, right out of college (Wake Forest University). I
have had the pleasure of working in different bilingual elementary
schools, after-school programs and day camps in the US and France
throughout the years. Over 20 years of experience in childcare
and education and my more personal observations in my own bi-cultural
household have granted me a unique perspective on teaching and
child-rearing around the world. I am fascinated by how people
grow, learn and get along with others. In
addition to education my translation specializations are
communication, tourism, the arts and children's literature. One
of my strengths is localization: years of working in the public
sector in France and the real-life experiences of living and raising
a family here have resulted in a deep understanding of French life
and how it compares to life in the US. In
my free time I am involved in numerous clubs and associations in my
small village in Southern Burgundy including a basketball league, a
music school, a rural outreach and solidarity program and a local CSA
(community supported agriculture), and I rarely miss an opportunity
to see live music or theater. |
