“La guerra è follia”: dal Sacrario di Redipuglia, in provincia di Gorizia, nel centenario dell’inizio della Prima Guerra Mondiale, il Papa chiede all’umanità la conversione del cuore, perché oggi si sta combattendo una terza grande guerra, “con crimini, massacri, distruzioni”. Nella Messa celebrata sotto la pioggia davanti ad almeno 15 mila persone, ha pregato per i caduti di tutte le guerre. 320 concelebranti, 60 vescovi, di cui 13 ordinari militari. La liturgia è stata animata dai seminaristi dell’Ordinariato militare e del Friuli. Presenti delegazioni provenienti da Ungheria, Slovacchia, Slovenia, Austria e Croazia, oltre ad una decina di rappresentanti della comunità islamica in Italia.
“… la guerra è una follia. Mentre Dio porta avanti la sua creazione, e noi uomini siamo chiamati a collaborare alla sua opera, la guerra distrugge. Distrugge anche ciò che Dio ha creato di più bello: l’essere umano. La guerra stravolge tutto, anche il legame tra i fratelli. La guerra è folle, il suo piano di sviluppo è la distruzione…”.
La guerra è una follia. Dal Sacrario di Redipuglia in Friuli Venezia Giulia dove riposano 100 mila vittime della Prima Guerra mondiale, il Papa chiede all’umanità la conversione dei cuori davanti alla violenza dell’uomo. E davanti al cuore corrotto dell’uomo l’umanità deve riconoscere gli errori, chiedere perdono e piangere:
“La cupidigia, l’intolleranza, l’ambizione al potere… sono motivi che spingono avanti la decisione bellica, e questi motivi sono spesso giustificati da un’ideologia; ma prima c’è la passione, c’è l’impulso distorto. L’ideologia è una giustificazione, e quando non c’è un’ideologia, c’è la risposta di Caino: ‘A me che importa del mio fratello?’: a me che importa … . «Sono forse io il custode di mio fratello?» (Gen 4,9). La guerra non guarda in faccia a nessuno: vecchi, bambini, mamme, papà… ‘A me che importa?’.”

War is madness. From the Memorial of Redipuglia in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where 100 thousand First World War victims rest, the Pope asks humankind to convert hearts in response to human acts of violence. And against the corrupt heart of humankind must recognize errors, ask for forgiveness and cry:
"Greed, intolerance, ambition to power ... are all reasons that lead in warlike decision, and these reasons are often justified by an ideology; but first there is passion, there is the distorted impulse. Ideology is an excuse, and when there is no ideology, there is the answer of Cain: «What do I care? It doesn’t matter to me…». «Am I my brother’s keeper?'» (Gen 4:9). The war heads no one: old people, children, mothers, fathers ... 'What does it matter to me?'."

I Have a Dream

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so, we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

Questo importantissimo decreto arrivò come un grande faro di speranza per milioni di schiavi negri che erano stati bruciati sul fuoco della feroce ingiustizia. Sopraggiunse come un’alba radiosa a porre termine alla lunga notte della loro cattività.
Ma cento anni dopo, il Negro non è ancora libero. Cento anni dopo la vita del Negro purtroppo è ancora paralizzata dalle manette della segregazione e dalle catene della discriminazione. Hi to everyone! My name is Raffaella and I'm 23. I come from Crotone, in Calabria, but I lived i different parts of Italy (Bari, Macerata, Reggio nell'Emilia). I attended the linguistic address of the high school "Gian Vincenzo Gravina" and I graduated in 2014 with the basic knowledge of English, German and French. In 2013 I did a one-month and 3-week work experience in Dublin at the Ballsbridge Hotel. I also attended a German course of the Goethe-Institut in Berlin. In the same year I matriculated at the University of Bari "Aldo Moro" and I attended the three-year degree course in "Linguistic and intercultural communication". I graduated in 2018 in German, English and Portuguese. I am currently attending the Master's Degree in "Modern Languages for International Communication and Cooperation" at the University of Macerata, where I am currently specializing in sectoral translations and consecutive interpreting in English and German.
During these years I have dealt with literary, artistic, economic, medical, automation and cosmetic translations for some important companies in Bari and in Crotone.
