Based in Toronto, Ontario and educated in Hong Kong with an MA (distinction) and BA (Hons) in translation, I received extensive training in translating from English into Traditional/Simplified Chinese and vice versa. In addition to speaking Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, I have attained native-like proficiency in English, as demonstrated by my full score of 120/120 in TOEFL iBT in 2018. I also speak intermediate French.

I had 6 years of full-time experience as an English-Chinese translator with the Government of Hong Kong SAR. Besides handling a high volume of translation and editing tasks and meeting all deadlines, I benefitted hugely from the feedback and advice provided by a team of senior translation managers. My philosophy is to strive for perfection, and my work has been held in high regard by my manager and teammates. With broad general knowledge, I am willing to work on different text types and subjects. In terms of specialized areas, with a distinction in scientific translation in DipTrans, I have experience in serving returning clients in the areas of public health and pharmaceutical research. I am also supplementing my pass in business translation in DipTrans by pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Financial Services Compliance Administration in Toronto, which has been helpful to me as I handle banking-related translation for a Hong Kong-based global bank and a Big 5 Bank in Canada.
