My name is Juan Pablo Piedrahita, and I run my own English–Spanish translation business, VoxPop (www.voxpop.xyz.)
My working experience includes more than 6 years as an interpreter and more than 3 years as a translator. I specialize in Legal, Life Sciences, Information Technology, and Digital Media, and I currently use Trados Studio 2019 and MemoQ 9. My linguistic abilities and technological expertise enable me to provide technically accurate translations that sound as if they were written in the native language.
Legal — Life Sciences — Information Technology — Digital Media
I provide English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English (EN<>ES) translation in the following areas:
Life Sciences. I have worked as a medical interpreter for over seven years. My experience encompasses an understanding of the medical field as well as its administrative aspects. This experience is also focused on patient rehabilitation that includes chronic pain and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.
The Legal System. I passed the Washington State Courts written test to become a Certified Court Interpreter, and I also have experience interpreting in Court. Furthermore, I volunteer with the King County Bar Association in their Neighborhood Legal clinics working directly with attorneys and limited-English-proficiency clients. My translation experience usually features immigration law and corporate law.
Information Technology (IT). My experience working with tech companies such as Microsoft, AT&T, and Apple gives me an understanding of the technology that creates the future. My background in Quality Control also ensures that my curiosity is always pushing me to always find the right tool and the right term when working in this ever-changing field.
Digital Media. My degree in Audio and Video Production, along with my current hobby of producing music and videos ensures that I continue to learn about this field and its expanding universe, which today encompasses areas such as: audio, video, gaming, social media, eCommerce, and virtual and augmented reality.
Software and Apps: • Trados Studio 2019 and MemoQ 9 • MS Office and MS Publisher • Adobe Photoshop and InDesign • MAC, iOS, and Windows power user • Wordpress
The important details: I was born in Colombia where I attended a bilingual school. From the age of five, I read and spoke English side by side with Spanish. In 1999 I moved to the United States, where I've lived for 20 years. Here, I attended University and received my diploma in Audio Production. Subsequently, I have completed courses in Creative Writing and Translation to further my translation skills.
