English to Italian: ANALIZZANDO LE PROVE: RASSEGNA DEL LA LETTERATURA CHE RIGUARDA LE MISURE DELL’IMPEGNO TERAPEUTICO NEI REPARTI DI IGIENE MENTALE ACUTA. General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
Source text - English Quality nursing plays a central role in the delivery of contemporary health and social care. Internationally, the notion of consumerism in health and social care has gathered momentum over the past decade, with studies reporting a positive correlation between service user sat- isfaction and the quality of nursing care received (Al Mailam 2005; Bamling & King 2001; Killaspy et al. 2009; Larrabee et al. 2004). Contemporary mental health ser- vices are orientated towards improving outcomes for service users through ensuring that they have a positive experience of care and support wherever it takes place, and that their care and treatment is effective, as demon- strated through measureable outcomes (DH. 2011). Mental health nurses are at the forefront of improving the quality of these services, offering access to timely, evidence-based interventions and approaches. Mental health nurses are expected to work with people to provide a positive experience of care as part of the nursing vision and strategy of developing a culture of compassionate care. In the UK the ‘6Cs’, care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment, encapsulate the work of nurses, their behaviour, and values (National Health Service Commissioning Board, 2012). They show that nurses not only see people’s mental health problems, but the person behind them.
Italian to English: From Pat Ament “Royal Robbins Il maestro dell’arrampicata americana” , pubblicato da CDA & VIVALDA, 1993. General field: Art/Literary
Translation - English Royal Robbins was born in 1935. But the story of this American man, a mountaineering legacy, still lives today. His most famous achievement is, without any doubt, the Salathé Wall on El Capitan. However, if we want to talk about traditional mountaineering, we have to move to the Alps and consider the two climbing routes he opened on the west side of the Aiguilles du Dru. The first time he climbed it was in 1962, seven years after the legendary Walter Bonatti’s climb solo of the southwest pillar of that beautiful spire that since then has been named after him, but that, unfortunately, Nature destroyed. He and his compatriot Gary Hemming climbed the route called the “American Direct”. Three years after he roped up with John Harlin and climbed the same route, calling it the “American Direttissima”. Unfortunately, this climbing way also doesn’t exist anymore, it collapsed like the Bonatti’s Pilier.
Chinese to English: Taken from Yu Hua’s short story “This story is for Willow” (“此文献给少女杨 柳”) from 1989. General field: Art/Literary
Source text - Chinese
Translation - English I had talked with the nurse for a long time because she told me the story of that 17 year old named Willow. Willow was at that hospital because she had leukemia and right when she was about to leave this world I was taken to the same hospital. She donated her corneas to me. She died on the 14th of August, around 3 pm, while I was laying on an operating table to get a cornea transplant.
That day he didn’t take his usual afternoon nap, he was sitting in the courtyard reading the newspaper. At 3.30 pm he went back to his hospital room: she had just died. He pointed at the room in front of mine, saying: “Willow died right in this room”.
