Dear Sir, Madam,
I am a full-time freelance translator, based in Belgium, West-Flanders. Just like any self-employed translator I am looking to expand my business with great eager and energy. I am a dutiful and punctual person with much attention for detail and a great respect for deadlines. I like doing extensive research if the assignment requires this. My main concerns are quality and accuracy. My language pairs are English/French > Dutch/Flemish.
I studied at Mercator Hogeschool (Ghent) and hold an Interpreter's degree.
My specific legal expertise was built up when I worked for an American law firm in Brussels. I invite you to visit my website (www.translationvandaele.com) and read through my attached CV.
My experience is mainly situated in the legal, pharmaceutical/medical and business/commercial area. More specifically I handle legal documents (contracts of all sorts, general conditions) for several companies (e.g. Coca-Cola, Editions Dupuis, Carrefour…) and translate conclusions for a number of sollicitors/bailiffs. In the pharmaceutical field I mainly translate informed consent forms, information leaflets, research studies, articles, surveys/questionnaires, etc. Clients in this field include Pfizer, AbbVie, Bayer, Janssen Farmaceutica, Merck, Sanofi, Novartis, Roche, Johnson&Johnson, AstraZeneca, Thermo Fisher (PPD), etc.
As a result of my great passion for horses, I have an enormous practical and literary background in the equestrian field. My main interests are natural horsemanship, hiking and dressage, but I also know the ins and outs of racing, jumping and breeding (bred 7 foals of my own) and obviously housing and care. Up until recently I had 18 (mostly) Andalusian horses of my own strolling around on the meadows behind my house. I regularly translate articles for equestrian magazines and I had the honour of translating a very advanced dressage course into Dutch.
On a general note I have extensive experience in translating websites, manuals for business strategies and human resources departments, general technical manuals, legal files (not sworn), manuals for medical representatives and training presentations for quality consultants in the Automotive business. Other areas of expertise: tourism, children’s literature, interviews, marketing documents, product descriptions (labels on consumer’s goods), video games.
I have a powerful
made-to-measure computer, a back-up Lenovo laptop and I deliver all my
translations in Word, Excel or PowerPoint format or in XLIFF (I am familiar
with most translation software), or through proprietary online platforms.
