English to German: Ceres: Pluto's little sister General field: Science Detailed field: Astronomy & Space
Source text - English Landslides are frequent on Ceres, usually they come down on the inside or outside of crater walls. They can be divided into three types which have different origins and histories. Strangely enough, certain types occur more frequently in certain regions of Ceres than in others.
Landslides of type 1 are massive and solid. They slide downhill in a straight frontline and form straight parallel furrows in the direction of their flow. Such heaps occur in craters near the poles, above the fiftieth degree of latitude. They look like landslides in the cold areas on Earth and on Mars that are tightly adhered with permafrost.
