Цирюльник Иван Яковлевич, живущий на Вознесенском проспекте (фамилия его утрачена, и даже на вывеске его -- где изображен господин с запыленною щекою и надписью: "И кровь отворяют" -- не выставлено ничего более), цирюльник Иван Яковлевич проснулся довольно рано и услышал запах горячего хлеба. Приподнявшись немного на кровати, он увидел, что супруга его, довольно почтенная дама, очень любившая пить кофей, вынимала из печи только что испеченные хлебы.
Translation - Portuguese Dia vinte e cinco de março ocorreu em Petersburgo um caso descomunal. O barbeiro Ivan Iákovlevitch, residente na avenida da Ascenção (seu sobrenome se perdeu, e mesmo em sua tabuleta – onde está representado um senhor com as bochechas ensaboadas e a inscrição “também fazemos sangrias” – não há nenhuma outra indicação), o barbeiro Ivan Iákovlevitch despertou bastante cedo e sentiu cheiro de pão quente. Erguendo-se de leve sobre a cama, viu que sua esposa, uma dama bastante respeitável, grande apreciadora de café, tirava do forno pães acabados de assar.
