As a linguist, I aim to use my skills to give international development organisations an English voice that can be heard globally.

I am a freelance translator, interpreter & proofreader working from Russian, French & German into English. I specialise in international development, marketing, education, business & sport. I have a Master's degree in Conference Interpreting & Translation Studies and I am a career affiliate of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI) and an active member of the ITI Western Regional Group and ITI French Network.

I have lived, worked and studied in Germany, France and Russia but I am now based in Bristol where I have set up my own translation company called Eloise Wyke Translations Ltd.

Düsseldorf: This was my first stint living outside of the UK as part of my year abroad and prepared me for future trips. I studied German intensively for one month at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität.

Brive-la-Gaillarde: Moving south, I taught English to adults at a vocational training centre for six months and it was here that I realised how much I love the English language and its complexities.

St Petersburg: Continuing my year abroad, I moved to colder climes and studied Russian language and culture at the Petersburg State Transport University. The five months I spent here significantly boosted my level of Russian and reinforced my love of the language.

Moscow (Part 1): My year abroad had not quenched my thirst for overseas adventures so I returned to Russia after graduating to volunteer for an NGO as part of the European Voluntary Service. I had my first taste of professional translation here as I helped create the English version of the NGO’s website.

Moscow (Part 2): I returned to Moscow for the second time after my MA to work for Carfax Private Tutors. Here I gained valuable commercial experience and developed my knowledge of the education sector and marketing which would become my areas of specialisation.
