Chana Gabay was born in Jerusalem, and lived there most of her life. Some of the time she spent in London, England, and some in the United states.
As a child she already found interest in the Medical Scientific field, and while in high school joined a research group in The Weizmann Institute for a research which was later continued in The Volcani Institute.
Alongside with her military service in the Navy, she took some scientific courses in the Open University. In 1989 she had received her bachelor's degree (BSc) in Biotechnology, in the departments of Biology and Chemical Engineering in Ben Gurion University, in 1993 she had received her Masters (MSc) in Biotechnology, with distinction, from the Hebrew university in Jerusalem, and in 1999 had received her PhD in Medical Sciences from Hadassah Medical School of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. All the years, she was involved in research, and afterwards continued research as a Post Doctorate student and as a researcher in the Hebrew University.
As part of continuing education program and simultaneously with her research work she has studied specialization courses in translation, in text editing, Hebrew and English, and in monitoring clinical research ( to be a Clinical Research Associate, CRA).
Her research, which was mainly in the field of cancer research, but in other fields too, was carried out using different organisms (Algae, bacteria, fungi, plant cells, Drosophila, mice cell lines and human lymphomas).
Chana has translated many medical scientific documents and books since 1999.
Chana Gabay is an acknowledged member of the Israel Translators Association.
