I am a legally qualified native speaker of English. I have lived in Brazil for 14 years. I read, speak and write in Portuguese at a near-native level. I have been working as a translator for over a decade. I would describe my translations as clear, accurate, and well written.
I have considerable experience with academic papers dealing with a variety of subjects, certificates, wills, contracts and other legal documents, tax documents, marketing material, commercial documents, policy guides, tourist information, as well as an extensive knowledge of tractors, planters and similar agricultural machinery. I also can and do turn my hand to other types of projects. I have worked with a mixture of Brazilian and international clients.
I have also worked as an English teacher for a range of clients, from large companies (Vale, Michelin, The Brazilian Olympic Committee, etc.), language schools, to private individuals from all walks of life. This gave me an excellent insight into the relationship between Portuguese and English.
In terms of my personal life, I have a Brazilian wife and son. I enjoy sport and play for the Caricoa Cricket Club (shown in photo). My other hobbies include walking, theatre and reading. |
