Considérons d’abord, la liberté politique, celle qui est inscrite aux frontons de notre république, avec l’égalité et la fraternité. Elle est définie essentiellement de façon négative, par opposition à ce qui la nie, c’est-à-dire l’oppression et la tyrannie. La réponse est ici très simple : nous sommes libres si nous vivons dans un régime démocratique qui respecte les libertés individuelles, de penser, de circuler, d’échanger des biens et des opinions. Et nous ne sommes pas libres dans ce sens quand ce n’est pas le cas et que ces libertés sont entravées pour quelque raison, bonne si elles empiètent sur les libertés des autres, ou mauvaise ; nous sommes alors contraints par un pouvoir politique et/ou policier qui est entre les mains d’autres hommes, même quand il est exercé au nom de dieu ou de la religion, comme c’est encore malheureusement trop souvent le cas.
La question est beaucoup plus difficile quand elle concerne notre liberté métaphysique, celle qui agite tous les philosophes et théologiens depuis des siècles, et qui est posée par rapport à la prédestination, pour les théologiens, et par rapport aux déterminismes naturels, pour les philosophes.
Translation - Arabic الحريّةُ السياسيةُ
بدايةً، فلنفكرُ مليّاً بالحريةِ السياسيةِ وهيَ تلكَ المنقوشةُ معَ المساواةِ و الإخاءِ على أقواسِ جمهوريتِنا، و يتمُّ تعريفُها من حيثِ الجوهرِ بطريقةٍ سلبيّةٍ، على النقيضِ مما ينكرُها أي الاضطهادُ و الطغيانُ. وإنَّ الجوابَ هنا بسيطٌ جداً، فنحنُ أحرارٌ اذا كنا نعيشٌ في نظامٍ ديمقراطيٍّ يحترمُ الحرياتِ الشخصيةَ أي حريةَ التفكيرِ وحريةَ التنقلِ و حريةَ تبادلِ السلعِ و حريةَ الرأيِّ. ولا نكونُ أحراراً بهذا المعنى عندما لا يكونُ هذا هو الحالُ و عندما تتم إعاقةُ هذه الحرياتِ لسببٍ حسنٍ أي في حالِ التعدي على حرياتِ الآخرينَ أو لسببٍ سيءٍ، إذن نحن مقيّدون بواسطةِ سلطةٍ سياسيةٍ و/أو بوليسيةٍ يتولّاها أناسٌ آخرون، حتى عندما يمارسونها باسمِ اللهِ و باسمِ الدينِ كما هو الحاصلُ غالباً للأسفِ.
و يكون السؤالُ أكثرَ تعقيداً عندما يتعلقُ الأمرُ بحريتِنا الميتافيزيقيةِ ، التي أقلقت الفلاسفةَ و اللاهوتيين منذ قرونٍ، والذي يربطُه اللاهتيون بالقضاءِ و القدرِ، ويربطُه الفلاسفةُ بالحتمياتِ الطبيعيةِ.
